The Dining Extravaganza
Discussion on Discord suggests that the folks local to Grand Rapids are interested in periodically meeting to dine at outstanding eateries that focus on specific cuisines.
The suggestions are (in alpha order):
- Brazilian (Charcoal Grill Brazilian Steakhouse, Holland)
- Chinese (Family Wok, GR)
- Cuban (Danzon Cubano, GR)
- Ethiopian (Little Africa, GR)
- French (Euro Bistro, Cascade)
- Greek/Persian (Zivio, GR)
- Indian (Curry Leaf, Kentwood)
- Italian (Big O Cafe)
- Japanese (Maru or Sushi-Yama, GR)
- Mexican (Maggie’s Kitchen, GR)
- Nordic (Sovengard, GR)
- Polish (TBD)
- Soul (Forty Acres, GR)
- Thai (Thai Kitchen, Kentwood)
- Vietnamese (Pho Anh Trang, GR)
The list assumes the restaurants in question survive the pandemic.
Thought is to meet either quarterly or e/o month for socializing only. Schedule will begin after quarantines lift.
I’m thinking we should begin this journey in mid-June. From what I gather from talking to folks, everyone who intends to be vaccinated will have done so by mid-May, so by mid-June, everyone should be at peak protection and it’s likely (I hope?) that in-person dining will be a more viable option. I know a few places on the list where we could go, early up.
If you’re interested in participating in these meal rounds, please let me know your preferred availability – e.g., good/bad nights or weekends.
Optionally, for Saturday excursions, we could also combine these with some sort of outdoor outing, like a hike or a kayak trip.
